Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Architect and build the server-side systems powering ANED's enterprise solutions. You'll design APIs, data pipelines, and distributed systems that handle millions of transactions across African markets.

What You'll Do

• ▸ Design and build scalable backend services and APIs
• ▸ Develop microservices using Python, Node.js, or Go
• ▸ Design and optimize database schemas and queries
• ▸ Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices
• ▸ Build event-driven architectures and message queues
• ▸ Write comprehensive unit and integration tests
• ▸ Monitor and optimize system performance
• ▸ Document technical designs and API specifications

What We're Looking For

• ▸ 5+ years backend development experience
• ▸ Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js
• ▸ Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• ▸ Knowledge of message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• ▸ Understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• ▸ Experience with RESTful API design patterns
• ▸ Familiarity with CI/CD tools
• ▸ Strong problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

• ▸ Experience with Go or Rust
• ▸ Knowledge of event sourcing and CQRS
• ▸ Experience with payment systems or fintech
• ▸ Familiarity with African regulatory requirements
